Breathe in the fresh air, hear the call of loons on the lake, splash in the creek, and gaze up at the clearest night sky—this is the beauty of our pristine wilderness setting.

At Camp Little Notch, we offer an immersive, unplugged experience that allows campers to connect with nature and each other in a meaningful way. Here, camp is a place to be screen-free, to make genuine, face-to-face connections, and to foster a deep appreciation for the natural world.

Since its founding in 1939, Camp Little Notch was built by girls for girls creating an intentional community where campers feel safe, supported, and encouraged to try new things, embrace their true selves, and build lifelong memories. We focus on helping youth develop collaboration skills by giving them an active role in shaping their camp experience, ensuring everyone feels empowered to contribute and explore.

Camp Life

At CLN, campers are grouped by age and paired with dedicated counselors who they’ll spend most of their time with. Each group is kept small (8-16 campers) ensuring personalized attention and a close-knit experience. Our sessions begin with campers and counselors collaborating to design a schedule for the week. While every group will enjoy classic camp activities like swimming, boating, and arts and crafts, the rest of the week is filled with exciting activities. Together, the group will decide which ones to explore, creating a truly unique experience for each camper. Read on to discover some of the fun activities waiting for your camper!

Activities

Challenge Yourself

At Camp Little Notch, challenge isn’t about competition—it’s about discovery, teamwork, and laughter. Campers build confidence and community through creative team-building games and friendly challenges that bring out the best in everyone.

One of the most beloved traditions is our Carpark Games, held in the big open field at the heart of camp. While it sometimes serves its original purpose (parking cars) it’s usually buzzing with energy, laughter, and play. And now, with the GaGa Ball pit, there’s even more space for friendly fun, new friendships, and moments that make camp days unforgettable.

Explore the Waterfront

There’s nothing quite like spending the day on our sparkling 80-acre lake. Campers can swim, canoe, kayak, or try stand-up paddleboarding while surrounded by the peaceful beauty of the Adirondacks. Under the guidance of our experienced waterfront staff, campers learn new paddling skills, play water games, and gain confidence in and on the water. Whether it’s a calm morning paddle or an afternoon splash with friends, every moment at the waterfront is pure summer magic.

Be Creative

Creativity shines bright at Camp Little Notch, especially in one of our most beloved places—Imagination Station, or “Imag,” as we fondly call it. Here, art and laughter fill the air as campers dive into classic crafts like tie-dye, candle making, and friendship bracelets, alongside new and exciting projects dreamed up by our talented staff. Every creation becomes a keepsake and a memory—a colorful reminder of the fun, friendship, and imagination that make CLN so special.

Learn Outdoor Skills

At Camp Little Notch, adventure and discovery are at the heart of every experience. A key part of our mission is helping campers build confidence and independence through hands-on wilderness experiences—like paddling across the lake to a primitive site, sleeping under the stars, or hiking through the woods to find the perfect spot for an overnight.

Each group decides where their adventure will take them, whether it’s setting up tents beneath the trees or falling asleep in the open air to the sound of the loons. With guidance from our skilled and supportive counselors, campers learn to prepare and cook their own meals over a campfire they’ve built together. It’s an unforgettable blend of teamwork, self-reliance, and pure Adirondack magic.

Experience Great Adventures

Every day at Camp Little Notch is a new adventure waiting to unfold. Our wilderness setting offers endless opportunities to explore, learn, and grow. Campers can climb Challenger, our very own mountain, and experience the thrill of reaching the summit. Along the way, they learn and practice Leave No Trace principles—discovering how to care for the land while enjoying it to the fullest.

From building shelters and mastering fire-starting and compass skills to wading through cool streams on a creek-walkingadventure, campers gain a deeper connection to nature and a lasting sense of accomplishment. Every challenge becomes a story to share, and every adventure strengthens the bond between camper and wilderness.

Build Friendships

Evenings in camp are filled with laughter, friendship, and unforgettable memories when campers come together for twilight swims, capture the flag, scavenger hunts, and the ever-popular lip sync battle. Every night offers a new way to connect and celebrate the joy of camp life.

Campfires are always the highlight each session—especially the final ceremony at Green Cathedrals, one of the most magical places at camp. Surrounded by nature and friends, we take time to reflect, share gratitude, and cherish the moments that make CLN so special.

Lodging

At Camp Little Notch, campers enjoy a true Adirondack experience—sleeping in large, sturdy canvas tents set on wooden platforms. Each tent fits four cots/mattresses, one for each camper. On warm summer nights, tent flaps can be rolled up to let in the gentle evening breeze, and during rainy weather, they can be lowered to keep everyone snug and dry.

Tents are grouped in small clusters called units, each with its own counselors and campers of a similar age. These units become little communities within camp—places where friendships grow and laughter fills the air.

We encourage independence and confidence, so campers have their own tent space, while counselors stay just a few steps away—close enough to hear and help anytime, day or night. Counselors make sure every camper knows they can reach out if they need anything at all, and they quietly check in during downtime and bedtime to ensure everyone is comfortable, safe, and ready for another day of adventure.

Meals

Mealtime at Camp Little Notch is more than just a time to eat—it’s a time to come together. Campers and staff gather in our rustic dining hall to share delicious, family-style meals prepared with care by our food service team. There’s always plenty to enjoy, from hearty favorites to fresh fruits and veggies, and we’re experienced in accommodating a variety of dietary requirements such as vegetarian/vegan, gluten free, and lactose/egg free.

Each meal is filled with conversation, laughter, and maybe even a few camp songs! Campers help with setting and clearing tables, learning responsibility and teamwork along the way. Whether it’s breakfast to kick off a big day of adventure or dinner before a night at the campfire, every meal at CLN nourishes both body and spirit.
